Civil partnerships, pensions and marriage

It’s been a big week for civil partnerships.

In the same week that the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill was introduced to Parliament, an employment tribunal judgment that pension rights for civil partners should extend back beyond the Equality Act’s limit of 5 December 2005 has received wider publicity, and, from Canada, we have a finding by the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario that a British civil partnership counts as marriage for the purposes of Canadian law.
