The government has today announced plans to change the rules on collective redundancy consultation.
In its response to the previous call for evidence, the government has issued a consultation document setting out proposals to cut the 90-day period for consultation over 100 or more dismissals to 45 or 30 days, and to introduce a non-statutory code of practice giving guidance on how consultation should be carried out.
They have also said that they want to improve guidance for employers and employees on the government support that is available in collective redundancy situations.
The consultation documents are here, and the consultation is open until 19 September 2012.
Thanks to Craig Gordon for spotting this.
